Mystery Stone
Larabanga,
Ghana
|
Location Guide |
The story of the Mystery Stone is that a stone was in the way of a road, and every time they moved it, it came back to
its original position. It was taken progressively further away, and always came
back, eventually the road had to be diverted to go around it.
Most people say this is the stone, however some
maps show it located some way to the north of Mole Park, this may just be an
error, a variant version or perhaps there are two of them. This stone is a flat, rounded stone that sits
on a smaller squire stone looking like a table.
When I arrived I jumped out of the 4WD and took
a few photos while the guide/driver turned around. This proved to have been a
good idea as a number of people appeared from nearby shade to stand in front of
the stone, I think then wanting payment to get out of the way.

If you are visiting the
Larabanga Mosque

significance to see.
